When news broke in 2018 that a statue would be erected in honor of MotoGP Legend Nicky Hayden in his hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky, Krista set out to uncover the story behind the tribute. But there was one problem: no one seemed to be talking about the artist behind the statue.
Undeterred, Krista first contacted the Mayor’s office, then followed up with the local art museum. There, she spoke with the director who sent her to renowned sculptor George Lundeen. A quick phone call later and the interview was set; the story behind the bronze motorcycle and its iconic pilot came to life.
